With an impressive body of work and a career that continues to evolve with exciting and challenging projects in both film and television, Ryan Kwanten has positioned himself as one of Hollywood’ s most promising talents.

Ryan can be seen starring alongside Academy Award winner Anna Paquin in the highly rated HBO series “True Blood,” from creator Alan Ball (Six Feet Under, American Beauty). The show has received renowned critical success, including Golden Globe ®, Emmy ®, and SAG ® awards and nominations. Kwanten’s performance has often been singled out; “Ryan Kwanten deserves a big shout out. Kwanten has been like a live electric wire on the show. He’s awesome, and he makes Jason’s dull thinking process crystal clear.” The show will return for season four in June.

Ryan was recently named GQ Australia’s “Man Of The Year” for 2010. He also received the prestigious “2010 Breakthrough Award” from the AIF (Australians In Film) and has been nominated for an American Teen Choice Award. In 2009, he was honored with the GQ Australia Best Actor in Television Award.

Segueing effortlessly between the big and small screen, his upcoming features include: The Zack Synder (300, The Watchmen) directed Warner Brothers 3D animated Legends of the Guardians, Red Hill, a modern day revenge Western where Kwanten plays a young police officer who must survive his first day’s duty in a small country town which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and has been picked up by Sony for US distribution, and Griff, The Invisible which features Kwanten in the title role as a sociophobic office worker by day and a superhero at night.

He also recently completed the Luke Kasdan feature film Don’t Fade Away opposite Beau Bridges. His other feature film credits include Flicka, a Twentieth Century Fox film in which he starred opposite Tim McGraw, Maria Bello and Alison Lohman; The lead in Dead Silence, a Universal Pictures film from James Wong (writer and director of Saw); the title role in America Brown, which received the Audience Award for Best Film at the Montreal Film Festival, Liquid Bridge, nominated for Best Picture at the Australian Film Festival.

A native of Australia, Ryan began his acting career while attending Sydney University, where he earned a degree in business. He starred in numerous feature films and television shows and gained international notoriety when he joined the cast of the long-running popular Australian series “Home and Away.”

Ryan’s additional television credits include the role of Jay Robertson in the critically acclaimed Warner Bros. series “Summerland.” He was also a lead in the ESPN original movie “The Junction Boys.”

A published writer, Ryan is currently working on a new book entitled “The G Strategy”- a satirical look at self help books.

An accomplished athlete, Ryan qualified for the world Biathlon titles in Sweden in 2006 and Italy 2007 after winning the LA Biathlon series two years running. He won the Santa Monica Pier Paddle Race in June 2010. He is a qualified yoga instructor and spends his free time bike riding, surfing and has a passion for completing triathlons.
